PRICE LIST: EGGS, CHICKS, STARTED, & ADULT BLUE , SPLASH, AND BLACK JERSEY GIANTS.
What started as a hobby in raising Jersey giants & providing fresh eggs for the family has now gained popularity in the chicken world. Folks are wanting a breed of chicken that is gentle, excellent 4-H projects, and a breed that is dual purpose providing fresh eggs and/or meat for the family. Maria's Jersey Giants are very competitive in local 4-H shows and are doing some winning in the American Poultry Association (APA) shows. During the busy hatching season here along with filling hatching egg orders it sadly forces us to have to buy eggs from the grocery for our own family which I miss greatly. Having our own flock to lay the most healthiest eggs for our family has always been important. Because we have feed to purchase and other expenses that go along with raising healthy quality chickens we do ask more for our birds and/or eggs. (We are purchasing 1000 pounds of feed per 3-4 weeks for $221.00) Our flock has a life long history having taken over the flock as a child back in 1976. Blue and Splash colors are not available at hatcheries. If you wish to produce quantity over quality then we recommend that you seek out a hatchery for your needs. We do strive for showable quality birds and will be happy to offer them to you. We breed for the betterment of the breed and do not mass produce.
Ordering Birds and Show Verses Pets
While we strive to produce Show Quality birds there will always be a few pet quality birds. Pet birds are quite often hard to distinguish from a show bird when they are struting around in the barnyard. It is when a bird is picked up and examined closely that one might notice faults such as a couple white feathers in the wing span, color under the foot, eye color, etc. If you are not going to be showing in an APA show the pets are just as gorgeous. A show bird literally gets picked a part for showable qualities which we strive to produce. Show birds are twice the cost of a pet bird. Keep in mind we do not hatch till first week in April so therefore chicks and/or started birds are not available until those hatches occur and/or started birds ordered reach up to the 6+ week categories. At this category we start evaluating for show quality and also evaluate whether the birds are roos or pullets. All newly hatched chicks and up to five weeks of age are unsexed. We ship our Jersey Giants all over the United States.

If you are purchasing chicks, started, or adult birds there will be the cost of the birds & poultry box payable to Maria Hall before shipment occurs. The birds will then be shipped COD. You pay in cash for actual Express mail shipping costs when you pick the birds up from the post office.

Available hatching eggs NOW and through Nov. 2012.We offer quality black, blue, and splash Jersey Giant hatching eggs during the months of February through mid November. Depending on the time of the year we offer all blue producing eggs by using splash to black matings. If you would like to have eggs at any other time please email us or call us and check on availability.
While our eggs have excellent hatchability as experienced by myself and other people, please understand that purchasing hatching eggs does have its risks and can not be guaranteed due to conditions beyond my control such as handling, possible improper temperatures, mother nature storms that cause electricity outages, humidity, less hatching experience. If you do not want to take these risks and do not feel like you can take responsibility to hatch eggs please choose chicks , started, and/or adult birds.

We only grow started birds up to 12 weeks of age. Any started bird orders need to be paid in full including poultry box. We do not categorize any bird as show potential if under six weeks of age. A pet bird may have 1 or more white feathers in the wing spread, too many or not enough points on the comb, or incorrect color under the foot. Depending on the fault these birds can still be used as breeders and can be bred to the right or correct cock or cockeral to compliment that particular breeding. When over the age of 6 weeks we can make an educated attempt to judge a bird for show potential. Please note if you want what I want to keep for showing purposes then these birds will be priced double the price. We can only judge for show potential based on our experience. We do attempt to grade birds for show potential, however we can not guarantee show quality.Started Birds: Blue, Black, Splashes- Pet and/or Show Prices: Birds will be grown from April to September hatches. If you want sexed pullets/roos these birds are pre-paid.
The Jersey Giants are great to have in your backyard providing you with both tick & mosquito protection. *Please note we have a special area to keep roosters so therefore not all cocks and/or cockerals are used in our breeding program. * We prefer to offer these birds as pets verses putting them in chicken soup. Amazingly my Newfoundland dogs do not even have ticks on them. See our dogs at Newfoundland dogs . The ticks never make it to their area when our Jersey Giants are always patroling areas.Newly hatched unsexed chicks- through 4 weeks of age- $15.00 each (pets)

We reserve the right to end this offer at any time or until supply lasts*Baby Chicks: 6 splash, 6 blue, 6 blacks (18 is the minimal order). Discounts for purchases of 50-75 birds. If you purchase (18) chicks x 15.00 each $270 + $35 S/H/Box = $305.00. Due to cooler temperatures in Indiana we do not start hatching for the public till first week in April 2012. Place your pre-paid orders now. Orders will be filled in the order they are received. We hatch from April to first week in September.
If you want more chicks in a particular color category these chicks will be charged at an additional $5.00 per bird. A special order of all blues for example might mean that the shipment can not be shipped if the numbers are not available. This forces me to keep the entire hatch or move to the next chick order or have to find homes for the babies. We breed chicks on demand and do not mass produce. Mass producing birds means that we end up with many birds to feed therefore costing a lot of money to feed them. If you are willing to accept all colors hatched giving us flexibility to substitute other colors this means that you are not charged the extra $5.00 per bird. We appreciate having that flexibility to do this. Keep in mind that all baby chicks are sold straight run or unsexed. We will select the chicks according to color only and do not vent sex or wing sex birds. We have no clue how to do this and have never been shown how to do so. We can ship as little as 15 chicks during warmer months and can ship as many as 25 in one chick box. If you should want more than 25 chicks we can order a double chick box and can ship 40 to 50 birds at one time. If somebody wants this many we can offer a discount.Poultry boxes: For started birds and/or adults
All birds have to be shipped in an airline approved poultry box : Single boxes will accomodate (6-10) four week old unsexed birds or (3) started sexed birds that are 6-10 weeks old. The single box ($15) works good for single adult birds or one can tape two boxes together for one shipment. For larger quantities or for bigger birds one can purchase a larger box at $25 and $35.00 per box.
COD Express Mail Shipping Charges on all birds:
With COD's we have to pay the shipping costs up front and upon the arrival of the birds to the post office you are required to bring CASH to the post office so the Post office can issue a US Postal Money Order to reimburse me for shipping costs. It is very hard to know the actual weights of birds and/or Express mail charges that change from time to time so this is the route that we choose when shipping birds. If you choose to pick the birds up in person one can do so upon getting an appointment time. This will save money by not having to pay for the box and/or COD shipping costs.
