*Inquiries for our Jersey giants have become enormous!! With the scare of some of our food sources being contaminated it seems that more folks are wanting to raise their own eggs and meat plus have good natured birds that will not only make great pets for the family but also have the potential to be competitive at 4-H and APA shows.
It is important that kids develop hobbies as it seems to have kept life interesting for me growing up as a child ................my parents always said that we were so busy with the farm that it seemed to have kept us out of trouble! It was always fun to toss grain to the chickens and talk to them as they all gathered around. I would encourage parents to also sign up your child in your local 4-H Club as it is fun and rewarding! Kids learn how to become more responsible, learn record keeping, judging, and much more.

Just received a nice report out of WI this month (August) that the birds hatched from our eggs are doing super- growing very well with a 4 month cockeral weighing in at 8 lbs.- the fellow really loves the Jersey giants over any breed raised in the last 20 years. He also reports that the Jersey Giants seem to be really handling the very hot temps. unlike other breeds you loose several birds in the summer!!
We stirve to produce "Show Quality". However we do not guarantee show quality. We recommend that you come & see the birds in person if you are looking to buy show quality birds. READ HERE ON SHOW VS PET before purchasing.
We have been told by other breeders that we have the nicest blue laced birds available out there. We are glad to hear this. I was humored by the kids showing their birds this year in 4-H, the judge would ask who the birds belonged to as he would take the bird out & examine each one. This was not only a learning experience for the 4-H er's but also for the parents too! One comment made by the JUDGE really stands out in my mind....................he said, 'I don't know who you got your giants from, but these are really nice looking birds!"

PLEASE NOTE: The temperatures need to be 35-85 in order to ship out poultry. In efforts to get hatching eggs and poultry at its destination before the weekend we ship only Monday through Wednesday.
In addtion to the cost of the birds there is an airline approved poultry box required ranging in price from $15.00 to $35.00 each.
The birds will be shipped COD going Express mail. This means that I have to pay for the cost of shipping up front & then when you receive the birds from your post office you will pay in CASH for actual shipping costs & the post office will then reimburse me by sending an US Postal money order by mail. We can only ship within the USA. Please indicate how many birds you are wanting , the color, and age of the birds , and zip code so I can let you know what is available & quote you a price.

If you breed SPLASH x SPLASH= 100% SPLASH-------Breed BLUE x BLUE = 50% Blue x 25% splash x 25% black
Breed BLUE x SPLASH= 50% splash x 50% Blues--------& breed BLACK x SPLASH= 100% BLUES.
Last I knew the Splash color has not been added to the Standard of Perfection & would not qualify for APA shows, however splash bred to a black amazingly is the only combination to produce 100% blues!!!

This breed of chicken is of gentle nature providing families with medium brown to dark brown eggs of medium to large size eggs depending on maturity.
Do not consider a PET bird if you are considering SHOWING. We want our BEST out there representing Maria's Jersey Giants.
If you are wanting PETS only then please email us or call us. We are open with you to discuss why a particular bird is more of PET quality verses show quality. Pet birds are at half the cost of prices listed below.

- 18 baby chicks required per order: 6 blue, 6 splash, 6 blacks- $270.00 + $35.00 for shipping/handling/box= $305.00.
if a specific # of chicks is not available in the color requested there would be a substitute of other colors. If we are running short of chicks for the order and can safely send fewer chicks we will refund the difference. We do try to send at least 1-2 extra chicks per order if available. Chicks are unsexed. We do not categorize newly hatched babies into show potential categories.
CHICKS are $15.00 each. for the above combinations if you want more of any given color then above tthen they are at the additional cost of $5.00 per bird. If I am not able to fill your order to be exact then the chicks are not at additional cost. Let us know what colors you prefer as substitutes and we will do our best to include those at no additional cost if you have prepaid for all 3 colors: 6 bk, 6 blue, 6 splashes.
If you choose not to purchase 18 chicks then you will need to special order chicks that are unsexed and/or started sexed birds. There is a minimal order of 3 started birds per order.
Jersey Giant Hatching Eggs: Due to the HIGH demand of baby chicks in APRIL 2011- Our hatching eggs will be available on a limited basis. We reommended that you pre-pay now and I will inform you up to 3 days before shipment occurs and work you in between hatches and whereby the incubator is at capacity.
The eggs come from high quality birds, however once again we can not guarantee show potential. We also do not guarantee the hatchability of the eggs due to environmental conditions beyond our control.
