BREEDING QUALITY JERSEY GIANTS IS OUR FOCUS
What started as a hobby in raising Jersey giants & providing fresh eggs for the family has now gained popularity in the chicken world. Folks are wanting a breed of chicken that is gentle, excellent 4-H projects, and a breed that is dual purpose providing fresh eggs and/or meat for the family. Maria's Jersey Giants are very competitive in local 4-H shows and are doing some winning in the American Poultry Association (APA) shows.
Having our own flock to lay the most healthiest eggs for our family has always been important. Because we have feed to purchase and other expenses that go along with raising healthy quality chickens we do ask more for our birds. Our flock has a life long history having taken over the flock as a child back in 1977.
We breed for the betterment of the breed and do not mass produce.
Breeding nicely laced blues is what we are known for throughout the USA. We also offer splash and black Jersey giants. Our birds have become very popular as seen in past issues of Backyard Poultry Magazine, Hobby Farms, and Chickens Magazine issues.
The beautiful gentle Blue Jersey Giant cockeral exhibits excellent lacing. This big boy is pictured in the Backyard Poultry Magazine -Dec/Jan. 2012 issue. Cocks usually are 15+ lbs at maturity and hens weighing 8-10 lbs. One lady reported that the cock purchased at one year of age later weighed 23 pounds at 2-3 years of age. Now that is one big bird! I wished I could have seen it at maturity.
Jersey giants are socialable birds and make not only good pets, but also fine 4-H projects. Several of our birds have won at APA shows as well. We have excellent reports on our birds from very pleased customers that marvel how healthy the birds and how much bigger they are in comparison to hatchery birds.

I try to make an effort to reply to all emails. Some emails end up n the spam box or lost in cyberspace. In effort to avoid possible miscommunications please call if you have any questions and/or do not understand an email and/or text messages. If you have not heard back from us within 2 days of your phone call, please try to contact us again. Everyone has busy lives and we sometimes get into phone tag. If this occurs please email us or text us back or call us no earlier than 10 a.m. and no later than 8:30 p.m.

Our Aussie named Ellie passes through our beautiful Blue Jersey Giant flock.
Blanca (White German Shepherd cross) shows a surprised look as she meets eye to eye with the Black Jersey Giant cock. It is like she is saying, "oh I did not know you were there!" Jersey Giants adapt well with other animals and people . We do not have any mean Jersey Giants on the farm. The giants lay beautiful medium to dark brown eggs. They are on medium to large in size.
Very handsome blue Jersey Giant Cockeral & the lighter bird is not quite a splash, but has been referred to as almost a "Self Blue" or Silver looking cockeral.
Our last hatch for the year is 10/22/12. These birds are highly competitive in poultry shows the following summer making them more mature or near to laying. If a bird is under 1 yr of age it is a pullet and/or cockeral. Shipping available within the USA only!
Black Jersey Giant pullets check out their winnings at the Scott County Fair. The black Jersey giant pullet is so curious............I believe the Black Jersey Giant notices the small chicken.

Going back in time: A picture from the early 1990's : Maria Hall holds a Splash rooster hatched from eggs that were purchased from Wilson Fields of Nebraska. Wilson was a good friend of Golda Millers. Both Golda Miller and Wilson are deceased.
Which egg do you think is from our Jersey Giants and which egg is from the store???
The egg to the left has a brighter orange color and looks more healthy. This egg is from our Jersey Giants!!Notice the Jersey Giant egg is not as runny as the store bought egg on the right. Typically an egg that has been kept in cold storage longer as the one to the right have a tendency to be thinner consistency verses the Jersey Giant egg to the left holds its shape together. Many people can see the difference in farm fresh eggs verses store bought eggs. One lady reports that her pancakes and cakes are not the same when she uses store bought eggs!!! The healthier thicker white and yolks of my eggs make her baked goods rise much better not to mention the bright yellow color makes it rich.
It makes good sense to have your own backyard flock to provide consistent fresh eggs for the family. It is nice to know where your eggs and/or meat have come from by controlling what they eat without the influence of growth hormones. Many store boughten items are often recalled due to Listeria and/or Salmonella. It is time for consumers to start looking out for themselves and their families.
Our son wins 6 trophies & 1 Reserve Champion with Jersey Giants and bantams exhibited at our Clark County Fair in 2008. (We no longer raise bantams and focus on Blue , Black, Splash Jersey Giants only). We raise no other breeds of chickens other than Jersey Giants!

Amazingly my Newfoundland dogs do not even have ticks on them. The Jersey Giants along with Guineas our free range and are great to have in your backyard providing you with both tick & mosquito protection. We also think they eat baby snakes as we rarely see a snake on the place:)

Copyright 2013- NO PHOTOS AND/OR ANY PART OF THIS WEBSITE ARE TO BE USED AND/OR QUOTED NOR IS THE NAME MARIA HALL AND/OR MARIA'S JERSEY GIANTS ARE TO BE MENTIONED WHILE IN THE SELLING OF BIRDS AND/OR HATCHING EGGS THROUGH FORUMS, ADS, AND/OR AUCTIONS. My reputation is most important and Maria's Jersey Giants has no control of the future breeding programs set forth by past customers nor do we have anything to do with the type of business that is conducted whether it be ethical or unethical. UNLESS WE KNOW YOU VERY WELL AND THERE IS TRUST ESTABLISHED WITH YOUR BREEDING PROGRAM WE WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT SWAP BIRDS AND/OR EGGS. THERE IS TOO MUCH JUNK BEING PRODUCED OUT THERE AND WE DO NOT WANT ANY PART OF IT. TOO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE SAY THEY HAVE SO AND SO'S BIRDS AND LET ME JUST SAY IT IS NOT THE SAME UNLESS YOU PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE ITSELF !!!!! WHILE A BREEDER USES THE APA STANDARDS AS AN AIDE IN SELECTION OF FUTURE BREEDERS .........EACH OF US AS BREEDERS ESTABLISH THEIR OWN STANDARDS........AS WE KNOW SOME BREEDERS HAVE HIGHER STANDARDS THEN OTHERS. This is what establishes the quality produced by good breeders and the qualities of those that have lower standards producing QUANTITY OVER QUALITY and by producing numerous types of breeds. We breed only QUALITY splash, blacks, and blue Jersey Giants with exceptionally nice lacing!
NO OTHER BREEDS RAISED HERE.
